What is Eudamonium?

Eudamonium, a play on the Greek word for “human flourishing,” fully encapsulates the vision of the Aimee Copeland Foundation. It’s fitting really – famous Greek philosophers such as Socrates, Plato and Aristotle all ruminated on the elements of a “the good life.” And at ACF, we believe that human flourishing occurs through growth – in mind, body and spirit. These components are deeply interconnected and must be continuously cultivated throughout the lifespan.

As a therapist, I encourage my clients to explore the inner workings of their minds; what makes up their values and belief systems; and how connected they feel to their bodies. Without a healthy perspective on our minds, souls and bodies, we are limited in our personal growth.

If you’re sedentary and isolated, research shows that psychological disorders are more likely to occur. Being active, enjoying life and interacting with others are all preventative measures and components of human flourishing!

That’s why we named our first event “Eudamonium: The Good Life Festival”. It will be held at Candler Park on September 9, from 3 PM to 7 PM. The festival will feature food trucks, yard games, live music, a one-mile walk and a message from yours truly. We hope Eudamonium will empower attendees to reflect on the mind, body, and spirit, and to cultivate the good life for themselves and others. We look forward to seeing you there!
